REMINDER TO ALL LEADERS: Any footpath problems encountered should be reported to Susan (01932 868524 or email to susan.causey@btinternet.com) with Grid Reference and description of problem. Car-free walks: Where a walk is marked "Car-free walk" it means that the start point is at or within about 1 mile of a railway station, so that it is theoretically possible to get there by train. Whether your journey would actually be possible or convenient depends on the available services on your route on the day of the walk, disruption caused by engineering works etc. It is advisable to phone the leader a day or two in advance if you are planning to reach a walk by train or bus, so that he/she can look out for you. Lifts: Anyone requiring a lift to go on a walk, please ring the Leader (at least a couple of days before) who may or may not be able to help, but could possibly find someone to pick you up at a nearby station. Wednesday Walkers Members looking for longer walks might like to join Peter S. on a Wednesday. The Wednesday Walkers regularly walk 10 to 15 miles. Not only do they walk in Surrey but Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Chilterns. Please contact him on the previous weekend if you wish to lead a walk or, on the previous two days, if you wish to join the walk. Telephone Peter S. on 01372 813741. Wayfarers Way The Wayfarers Way runs from the Solent to near Oxford. We will pass through a variety of attractive scenery parkland and forest, over heaths and downland, beside quiet streams and through picturesque villages. So why not join us, we would love to see some new faces as well as welcome back some old friends. We do NOT walk fast we use about the same pace as our regular rambles. As these are linear walks it is essential that all walkers contact the leader Muriel on 020 7274 2456 at least three days before so that transport can be coordinated to ensure that there are no more than two people in each car. London Loop The London LOOP (London Outer Orbital Path) is 140 miles long, and encircles the capital slightly inside the line of the M25. It links up a large number of open spaces round the capital. Some members of the Wednesday walkers have expressed interest in doing a stage a month of the LOOP, so Piers N. has agreed to lead a group doing the first two stages as an experiment to see how much support there is. The first stage, from Banstead to Kingston, is on Wednesday 2 December (see below). All sections are accessible by public transport. Detailed suggestions for public transport links to the start and end of the next walk will be posted on www.piersnicholson.com/london_loop.html.
